I am an evolutionary biologist specialising in deep-time evolutionary patterns, and processes during evolutionary transitions. I use a multidisciplinary approach to study evolution, combining paleontology, developmental biology and statistical modelling. My particular groups of interest are early vertebrates (ancient fish fossils) and insects, but I am interested in evolutionary questions across the tree of life. In January 2021 I began work as a postdoc in the Department of Linguistic and Cultural Evolution at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig.
